Wide Feet: Which Is Better?
Adidas generally offers more width in the midfoot and overall structure. However, many models still have a narrow toe box, which can be uncomfortable if your toes spread naturally. Nike tends to feel narrower overall, but some people with wide feet actually find Nike more comfortable in the toe area, depending on the model.
The truth is: wide feet isn’t one shape. Toe box shape matters just as much as width.
If you have wide feet, Adidas is the safer choice as Adidas offers more choice for wide-fit models.
This is where real life gets more nuanced. I personally have wide feet and, despite what most guides say, I’ve never managed to find a comfortable pair of Adidas. The midfoot usually feels fine, but the toe area is always too narrow for me — especially where the toes spread.
It creates pressure on the sides of the toes, even when the shoe technically fits in length. So while Adidas is often described as “wide-friendly”, the toe box shape can actually be quite narrow for people with wider forefoot or toe splay. This is exactly why shoes like New Balance (read full review) or Hoka (read full review) work better for me — they offer not just width, but a more natural toe shape.
